Open to current 4th–6th graders (incoming 5th–7th). Camp runs July/August and includes STEAM classes and a Minnesota Zoo field trip.

What an unforgettable day for our Northside 2nd Graders at Ruby Ranch last Friday, April 24th, 2026! 🌱🐄
Our students joined hundreds of other young learners for a hands-on, outdoor learning experience led by incredible Minnesota State University, Mankato education students. The excitement was contagious from start to finish!
Throughout the day, students rotated through four engaging stations:
🔍 Pond viewing and exploration
🌲 Building stick towers in the woods
📏 Measuring baby animals
🦉 Dissecting owl pellets
From curious questions to muddy hands, this was learning at its best—active, meaningful, and full of discovery. Our students had the chance to experience science, math, and nature in ways that simply can’t be replicated in the classroom.
A huge thank you to Ruby Ranch and all of the college students and organizers who made this day possible. We are so grateful for the time, preparation, and passion that went into creating such a special experience for our kids.
All in all! A wonderful day filled with learning, laughter, and lots of memories! 💚

This winter, the District 840 Foundation generously funded an ELD functional language resource designed to support students developing Tier 1 vocabulary and foundational concepts for the SUN Room.
Building on this support, the curriculum is intentionally aligned with our Wit & Wisdom modules for kindergarten through third grade, creating meaningful and consistent learning connections across settings.
Last week in the SUN Room, students explored vocabulary and concepts from The Little Red Hen as part of the kindergarten Module 2 unit. As they learned how wheat is gathered, milled into flour, and transformed into dough, students engaged in hands-on learning using Play-Doh to practice key concepts such as thin, thick, flat, long, and short.

MSHS students in Mr. Chapin's class explored heart health this week preparing for their Red Cross CPR/AED/First Aid unit. Students examined blood vessels, valves, and chambers. Thank you to LaSalle Meats for the supplies! #StJamesMSHS
Reve Coffee Co. hosted a Traveling Art Project for local schools! Thousands of sleeves were decorated by students and community members from ten different schools - Northside being one of them!
Our art will be spread across nine Minnesota counties as they travel around with their coffee truck. When customers order a drink, they are able to pick out a sleeve that speaks to them. Our artwork will bring smiles to others and we are proud to share our talents with others across Minnesota!
